Choline Chloride 60
Indications
Choline Chloride 60% is a widely used feed additive. It is commonly recognised as a water-soluble vitamin (also know as vitamin B4) and plays an essential role in the metabolism of growing livestock.
Composition
Choline Chloride is a very aggressive vitamin that can reduce the activity of other vitamins in a premix even when an antioxidant is used. However it is a necessary vitamin in livestock feeds and should be added as a separate ingredient when feeds are manufactured. The requirements for Choline Chloride will vary, therefore producers should contact their nutritionist for more information on the Choline Chloride requirements for their livestock.
Discussion
Choline Chloride is an essential component of most plant and animal cells
and is a structural component of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. Another
choline derivative, lecithin, is important for the construction of a cellular
membrane and for the transport of lipids from the liver, thus preventing
so called “fatty liver” syndrome. Through its crucial role as a precursor
of methyl donors, choline is an important factor in healthy growth.
Furthermore
choline itself plays a role in preventing metabolic disorders leading to
physical disability.
All these roles can readily be met by supplying the diet with Choline
Chloride.
