DOT ™ PREMIX

Indications

To aid in the prevention of caecal and intestinal coccidiosis in broilers, replacement pullets and turkeys.

Composition

250 g / kg dinitolmide (3,5-dintro-o-toluamide, D.O.T.).

Carrier: Prebase™.

Directions

During the period birds are at risk of developing coccidiosis DOT PREMIX should be thoroughly mixed with feed as follows:

PULLETS

500 g of DOT PREMIX per tonne of finished feed.

BROILERS

600 g of DOT PREMIX per tonne of finished feed.

TURKEYS

750 g of DOT PREMIX per tonne of finished feed.

To ensure uniform distribution of DOT PREMIX in the finished feed, mix the required amount of DOT PREMIX with approximately 8kg of ground grain before adding to the bulk mixer.

Discussion

DOT PREMIX is an older generation chemical anticoccidial that acts late in the life cycle of the coccidia and, therefore, has the potential to allow the bird to develop some degree of natural immunity against the coccidia. For this reason DOT PREMIX is well suited for use in layer pullets and broiler breeders in rear.

On technical grounds it is probably not the anticoccidial of choice for broilers because of the late stage of action in the lifecycle; however, due to its economical pricing in comparison with the newer and more technically effective ionophore compounds, DOT PREMIX is very cost effective and widely used in the late stage of broiler growing.
