Frequently asked Questions
Question:
What is an MSDS, when is it required and how can I obtain one?
Answer:
MSDS stands for "Material Safety Data Sheet" and it is a document listing the material composition, hazards when used, first aid, PPE, transport classification, environmental data and other data relevant to safe use of the material. An MSDS is required for every material supplied in Austrlia which is classified as hazardous, according to the criteria of NOHSC.
Most BEC Feed Solutions products are not classified as dangerous goods for transport purposes. A part of our product range is classified as hazardous accoriding to the criteria of NOHSC. You can request an MSDS for these products from our Customer Service Team. A large proportion of our premixes are not classified as hazardous, hence do not require an MSDS.
Question:
Can BEC Feed Solutions guarantee that the non-medicated premixes contain no traces of medications?
Answer:
BEC Feed Solutions is the only manufacturer of premixes and supplements in Australia with two physically separated sites, where one site is totally medication free.
There are no medications used or stored on this site and there is no personnel exchange between the sites. BEC Feed Solutions can guarantee that non-medicated premixes contain no contamination of any medications.
Question:
How long can I keep the product for?
Answer:
Each product has an assigned shelf life depending on its composition. The customer should look for the expiry date printed on each product label.
To assure that the product keeps its quality and performance it is essential that the product is stored in a dry and cool place, out of sunlight, in well closed packaging.
Question:
What guarantee can be given with the BEC premix products?
Answer:
All BEC premixes are manufactured under the control of a sophisticated computer system which is constantly monitoring the production and performing a large number of self checks. Should you require a written document to state a guarantee you can request a "Certificate of Conformance". This document relates to a single batch of a product and is prepared by our QA department following a verification of batch reports. Another option is to request the product to be tested. This option is used mainly for custom made premixes and the scale and schedule of testing can be customized to suit your requirements.
Question:
Why does the appearance of certain product vary?
Answer:
Our products use a range of materials which are of mineral or plant origin.
The mineral products often vary from one source ot another depending on the mine location or on the manufacturing process.
The appearance of materials of plant origin often depends on the season and weather. Beside these causes, sometimes there can be a different carrier used in a product depending on the material availability. Most of our premix products use vegetable protein materials as a carrier. Change from one type to another type may infuluence the product appearance but the product quality and performance stays the same.

Question:
What does BEC stand for?
Answer:
BEC (pronouced B - E - C, not Bec) is the initials of Brisbane Export Corporation P/L, the founding name of the company. In 2006 due to development and expansion over 16 years, the company was renamed to more closely reflect what BEC Feed Solutions currently do - provide solutions to all animal nutritional requirements. The new name combines the recognisable and respected short form of the original company name - BEC - with the word Solutions to demonstrate our commitment to providing solutions to all aspects of the feed industry. Our motto "Leave nothing to chance" was selected at the same time and speaks for itself.
