Directions for use

The precise dietary requirement of biotin will be dependent on the composition of the feed and the particular animal species involved. To ensure optimum animal performance BEC recommend that a professional animal nutritionist is consulted when formulation animal rations.

Discussion

MICROVIT™ H PROMIX 2000 is a source of biotin for use exclusively in the manufacture of animal feed products. The product has been designed to optimise the number of active particles of biotin while providing a free-flowing powder with excellent Mixability™.

Biotin functions as a mobile carboxyl carrier in four carboxylase enzymes in animals. These enzymes have important functions in the metabolism of lipids, glucose, some amino acids and energy. In all animals, a deficiency of biotin will depress growth and cause a loss of hair and/or a dermatitis condition. Pigs exhibit hind-leg problems, cracks in the feet, and a dermatitis. There is also lowered efficiency of feed utilisation. Chickens show dermatits and perosis, and may be susceptible to fatty liver and kidney syndrome (FLKS), whereas in hens hatchability is severely reduced.
